Drag the columns where you want them

A job called San Lorenzo Valley Middle School Gameline Striping was showing up on the execution list as San…. Not much use for picking a job out of a list.

The table was letting its columns fight over the width and the project name was losing every time. Dates and dollar figures can't be squeezed — they are what they are — so the two columns that could give ground, the name and the general contractor, gave all of it. The GC ended up stacked five lines tall in a column too narrow to read, and the name got whatever was left over, which on a job carrying a tag was about four characters.

Now the columns have real widths, and they're yours to change:

  • Drag any column's right edge to resize it. Double-click the same spot to put it back. Widths are remembered in your browser, per table — set it once and it's there tomorrow.
  • Project names show in full, wrapping to a second line when they need to. Tags like Never billed and Ready sit underneath the name now instead of beside it, so they stop eating the space the name needs.
  • The GC and City columns cut off cleanly rather than stacking into a tall column of fragments. The full name is in the tooltip.

One trade worth knowing: the list is wider than it was, so there's more scrolling sideways on a narrow window. If there are columns you never read, drag them down to nothing — it sticks.

On a phone or tablet the list still shows the columns that fit, and no more.
