RFIs carry their files, and submitted RFIs and submittals lock

Files on the RFI. Open any RFI and there's a Files section with two sides: Sent with the RFI and Response. Pick a file already in the project's RFI or RFI Response folder in Files, or upload one on the spot. An upload is filed in Files under the matching folder, so it's still in the one place your team looks. Taking a file off an RFI leaves it in Files.

Submit locks what you sent. New RFIs start as drafts. Write the question, attach your markup, then hit Submit RFI. After that, the subject, question, discipline, spec section, drawing reference, priority and the files sent with it are locked. Ball in court, the due date, the answer and response files stay open until the RFI is closed. RFIs that were already open count as submitted.

Submittals lock on submission too. When a package is marked Submitted, Approved or Approved as Noted, its number, spec, type, description, round, product link and files lock. Dates, status and procurement keep moving. When it comes back Revise & Resubmit or Rejected, it unlocks for the next round.

Need to fix one? An org admin can reopen a submitted RFI back to draft, or pull a submittal back to Pending. Either one goes in the activity history.
