Set up the states you work in

Until now the company profile assumed California: one CSLB number, one DIR registration, one list of classifications. A shop that also holds a Washington L&I registration or a Nevada licence had nowhere to put it.

A home state. Under Settings → States, pick the state you operate from. New projects and new workers default to it. A company that only works in one state sees that one state and nothing else.

One record per state. Each state you add lists your credential with that state's contractor board — CSLB and DIR in California, L&I in Washington, CCB in Oregon, NSCB with its bid limit in Nevada, the Contractors License Board in Hawaii — with the number, the classifications as printed on the licence, and the expiry date. Your California numbers moved over on their own; nothing on an eCPR or a proposal changed.

A flag, not a guess. When a project sits in a state you have no registration for, the States panel says so. That is the first of several places where STrOp will tell you a job is somewhere the company isn't set up yet, rather than quietly pricing it as if it were home.

Setting up a second state is step one. The payroll burden, sales-tax treatment, lien-waiver forms and statutory deadlines that follow the state are on the way.
